South African music maker Makhanj has officially released a long-awaited body of work titled Transkei. This major 2026 release comes directly under the record label Makhanj Entertainment. The project includes 13 distinct tracks and has a total playing time of 1 hour and 21 minutes.
Transkei Quick Summary
- Makhanj released a 13-track album titled Transkei in 2026 under Makhanj Entertainment.
- The album runs for 1 hour and 21 minutes and features artists like Mellow & Sleazy, Babalwa M, and Nia Pearl.
- Transkei follows Makhanj’s previous projects including the 2024 album Ntyatyambo and The New Testament EP.

The project begins on a calm note with the song “Amandla Am (Intro)”, which features guest vocals from Sipho Magudulela and Bella Tee. The music then moves smoothly into “Ndimincile”, a track created together with D’braz. Following that is “Kela”, a track that brings together Babalwa M and Stixx.
Listeners can find many different styles across the whole collection of songs. Just like when Tyla releases new album A*POP tracklist and features for fans worldwide, Makhanj aims to reach listeners everywhere with this release. On the fourth track “Phepha Abanye”, producer Atmos Blaq adds his touch, while Shaunmusiq joins in on the track “Mzala”.
Another big song on the album is “Bhaqiwe”, which features Carter IV along with Thatohatsi and popular duo Mellow & Sleazy. Track seven, titled “Ngoku”, features Djy Vino, Tumza D’Kota, Ndibo Ndibs, and Cue Lone all on one song.
The project continues to give fans rich music with “Imali Ikhona”, which features singer Mzizi alongside Shakes & Les and Optimist Music ZA. In a similar way to how JayJayy drops new album Detour tracklist and featured artists to show off fresh talent, Makhanj gives many rising stars a chance to shine on this project.
The track “Andiyekanga” features smooth contributions from Nia Pearl, Jay Sax, and Khalil Harrison. After that comes “Khanindifake”, which features artist ZANI, followed by the effort “Baleka” featuring Jnr SA.
Near the end of the project, track twelve “Andoyiki” brings together Mphoet, Mellow & Sleazy, Djy Ma’Ten, and The Buu for a heavy collaboration. The album finally closes with “Kukuwe”, featuring Stixx and Deeper Phil, completing an extensive musical journey.
Transkei is not the only project from the artist in recent years. Makhanj previously dropped projects like The New Testament EP in 2024 and the album Ntyatyambo. The artist also dropped several singles like “Bawo Vula”, “Monday”, and “Vintage Golf” leading up to this major album release.
